About Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

Originally developed by renowned psychiatrist Dr Aaron Beck in the 1960's, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy has become one of the most popular forms of therapeutic intervention used throughout Europe and the USA.


CBT focuses on thoughts, feelings and behaviour and helps the client to see how thoughts and behaviours can impact on the way that we feel. Gradually, the client is helped to begin replacing thoughts and behaviours that play a part in emotional distress or unhappiness and replace them with more constructive, helpful and compassionate thoughts and behaviours, thereby helping to alleviate distress or unhappiness.
